Guest Speakers Bring Learning to Life For Black History Month

Our Sixth Form students welcomed two inspiring guest speakers to St Paul’s, bringing classroom learning to life while celebrating Black History Month. These talks took place during our Sixth Form RISE lessons (Religion, Identity, Society and Education). As a Catholic Sixth Form, the RE department is committed to developing the whole person, supporting students to grow in faith, explore their identity, engage with society, and prepare for their future.
Year 12 welcomed Fr Emmanuel, who explored vocation and discipleship, encouraging students to reflect on their topic, ‘Called to Something Greater’, and consider their own vocation and next steps as they begin their Sixth Form journey.
Year 13 welcomed St Paul’s alumna Kirsty Darko, who shared her journey from St Paul’s to studying Law and pursuing a career in employment law. Having worked for Uber and now McDonald’s, Kirsty offered valuable insights into navigating the professional world, linking directly to their topic, ‘Being an Adult in the 21st Century’.
As we celebrate Black History Month, we recognise the importance of representation, diverse voices and celebrating the achievements of black individuals who inspire the next generation. Both speakers encouraged our students to reflect on their aspirations, recognise their potential and consider how they can make a positive contribution to society.
A huge thank you to Fr Emmanuel and Kirsty for sharing their experiences and inspiring our students!
