St Paul's Hosts Youth SVP Conference

In February, St Paul’s Catholic School was pleased to host this year’s Youth SVP conference, welcoming secondary school groups from across the Diocese of Northampton. Led by SVP representatives, the day enabled students to network and reflect on how their Vincentian mission can make a real difference in their local communities.
Many attendees had also participated in last year’s Pilgrims of Hope conference for the Jubilee Year. This year’s theme was Verso L’Alto (To the heights), most famously the motto of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. It symbolises a courageous and constant striving for spiritual growth, holiness, and the ultimate summit of eternal life with God. Students were encouraged to reflect on this call and consider how to move forward with renewed purpose in their service.
A central focus was the issue of loneliness in our communities. Youth SVP groups explored practical ways they can respond, recognising that small acts of presence, friendship, and outreach can have a profound impact on those who feel isolated. The day concluded with Mass celebrated by Fr Emmanuel and Fr Kingsley, who was visiting from Italy. The liturgy was beautifully supported by the choir of St Thomas Becket Catholic School, Northampton, whose music filled the MGR, while K Block resonated with uplifting worship throughout the day.
St Paul’s Catholic School was honoured to host such a meaningful gathering and looks forward to seeing Youth SVP groups across the Diocese of Northampton continue to grow in faith and service.
