An Introduction To The World Of Opera

Year 9, 10 and 12 Drama and Music students had the opportunity to watch an abridged version of the opera 'The Marriage of Figaro', specially adapted for schools. The performance was hosted at Milton Keynes Theatre by the Welsh National Opera.

Students enjoyed a blend of narrated scenes and classically sung performances by a very talented cast. The production was presented in three different languages: narration was delivered in both Welsh and English, while the opera itself was sung in Italian.

This unique experience not only introduced students to the world of opera, but also gave them insight into multilingual performance and live theatrical storytelling. For many, it was a first encounter with opera, and it offered valuable cultural enrichment as well as inspiration for their own creative work in Drama and Music.
