English Students Discover Poetry Live

Students with John Agard

Year 11 had a fantastic day recently at the Poetry Live event in Cambridge. They were able to listen to experts advise them on how to answer exam questions, and listen to some incredible poets explain their poems. Some of the poets the students saw were Simon Armitage, Imtiazh Dharker, Owen Sheers and John Agard. As students were leaving the performance, they had an incredible opportunity to meet John Agard, author of poems such as ‘half caste’ and ‘checking Out Me History’. Students were thrilled to meet a poet who has inspired them so much and some students received personalised autographs on their anthologies.
