Alumni Attend First Careers Networking Event

St Paul's alumni speaks with current students

Seven St Paul’s alumni attended our inaugural careers networking event with current Year 10 students. The aim of the event was to give students the opportunity to find out more from our alumni about the learning and career paths they had taken.

The event was held in the style of a career workout with small groups of students meeting individual alumni and asking questions before moving on to the next person. Themes explored by the students included what subjects our alumni had studied at school and university, what their jobs involved and advice on how to create a good CV. They also had time at the end of the event to go back and ask alumni further questions.

Mr Jones and Mrs Parkins who organised the event were delighted with Year 10’s enthusiasm and their engagement with our alumni. Mrs Parkins said: “There were some animated discussions taking place throughout the session and it was particularly encouraging to see everyone participating and asking questions.”

Mr Jones added: “We couldn’t have held this event without the involvement of our alumni so we would like to say a special thank you to Monika Slowik, Anderson Da Silva, Richard Adomako, Kingsley Williams, Kyle Williams, Michael Gyekye and Diego Jaumandreu Ondaro for joining us and inspiring our students with their career insight and excellent advice.”

The feedback from Year 10 was very positive. Students said that they were interested to find out about higher and degree apprenticeships and that they enjoyed hearing about the different sectors including recruitment, accountancy, asset management and the music industry where our alumni are working.
