Geography Students Study Fair Trade Fashion

Fair Trade clothing designs

Year 8 Geography students became fashion designers with a conscience as they turned their hand to creating a new Fair Trade clothing line to sell in store.

Geography teacher, Mr Ritson, explained: “Students are currently studying the Geographies of Fashion so they are looking at where our clothing is made around the world. They had to think about the sustainability of their designs and materials and to make sure that their pricing fitted with Fair Trade policies.”

Students produced some innovative and stylish designs and demonstrated a good understanding of the importance of ensuring that workers had good working conditions, and were paid a fair wage and a fair price for their products.
