Walking The Parables Of Jesus

The Parable of the 10 bridesmaids

Year 9 enjoyed a trip to the Wintershall Estate near Guildford where they had a guided walk, led by the disciple Peter, and  watched open air performances of five of the parables of Jesus.

The five parables were The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, The Sower, The Good Shepherd and 10 Bridesmaids. Each parable was performed by actors in stunning woodland and lakeside locations around the Estate and was followed by a period of reflection which provided time for groups to think about what the parable means to us now, in our own lives and in the changing world.

For example after the parable of The Good Samaritan we talked in our group about how to be a good neighbour and the qualities you need to be one. Afterwards we chose ribbons which we attached to a prayer wall so that we could pray for a neighbour or friend.

Our students were impeccably behaved and participated well in all the periods of reflection. We are grateful to the wonderful actors and staff at Wintershall for providing such an inspiring experience during these challenging times.
