First Live Lounge Is A Huge Success

Musical talent was celebrated at St Paul’s first Live Lounge event on 12th February.  The new event gave talented musicians and singers across all year groups the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of fellow students, staff, family and friends.

Live Lounge also saw the first event for the newly assembled St Paul’s Tech Crew, a group of volunteers led by Sixth Formers Ben Charter and Kiera Baird, who assist with technical set up and set changes for musical and drama performances.

Lucia Swords, Head of Music at St Paul’s Catholic School, said:  “Live Lounge is inspired by Radio 1’s concept and it allows us to showcase our talent in a relaxed and informal setting that is more akin to a nightclub or small music venue.”

Performers at Live Lounge

Thirteen acts performed a diverse range of music including songs from artists such as Simon and Garfunkel, Maroon 5, Jess Glynne, Sam Smith and Labrinth.  The evening was compered by Year 13 student, Cameron Parmar, a regular performer in school musicals.

Mrs Swords said:  “Our students did so well last night and I’m incredibly proud of them.  Huge thanks go to our new Tech Crew too – Szymon, Maddi, Emily, Joshua, Christabel, Kelly and Leo and the aforementioned Ben and Kiera.”
