Ambassadors Help Build Maths Skills

Maths ambassador with pupil

Our Sixth Form Mathematics ambassadors have been helping primary school pupils at a Mathematics challenge morning aimed at developing collaboration and perseverance skills.

The Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils from Catholic Primary Schools St Bernadette’s, Bishop Parker, St Mary Magdalene, St Monica’s and St Thomas Aquinas took part in five different mathematical puzzles including a logic puzzle, magic squares and arithmetic problems.  In a closely run contest, St Monica’s were the overall winners by just one point and took home a winner’s award for their school.  All the participants received certificates and their schools also got a Mathematics pack.

Amy Ong, Mathematics Teacher, said:  “It was great to see these young mathematicians so engaged with the subject and we would like to thank our ambassadors for sharing their knowledge and passion for Mathematics with our visitors.”

St Paul’s Mathematics ambassadors have already run Mathematics events at the five primary schools. The ambassadors also provide support at St Paul’s weekly Mathematics club and regularly assist the Mathematics Department at open evenings and information evenings.
