Best Ever GCSE Results

Student collecting GCSE results

GCSE students at St Paul’s Catholic School are celebrating success with the school achieving its best ever GCSE results.  In both Maths and English 65% of pupils gained a new Grade 4 and above which is significantly higher than achieved Grade C and above in 2016.  Results at Grade 5 and above are also a cause for celebration and should place St Paul’s in the top 20% of statistically similar schools nationally.  A significant achievement was the number of Grade 9s awarded in the new reformed English GCSE examinations.

Commenting on the results Jo-Anne Hoarty, Headteacher at St Paul’s Catholic School, said:  “We are very pleased that the hard work and dedication of students and staff has been rewarded with these results.  It is fantastic that we have managed to secure such a remarkable increase in results in a time of significant change at GCSE.  The success is down to the commitment of students and the fantastic support and guidance they have had from parents and staff.”

Particular congratulations go to Lizzie McBride, Katie Becket, Aaron Ryan, Eleanor O’Sullivan, Chike Izuogu, Lucas Churchill and Mirranda Cena who all achieved eight or more A* - A Grades.

We were pleased to also welcome BBC Look East to the school.  Their cameraman and reporter spent the morning filming and speaking to students and staff.

Last week many students at St Paul’s Catholic School also achieved excellent results in their A-Level examinations.
